The 2022 MLS season is quickly coming to a close, but players are stepping.
The action is heating up as teams strive to qualify for the playoffs, with CF Montreal dominating in the East and LAFC getting back to their winning ways in the West. But it all came down to Lucho Acosta, who lead FC Cincinnati to a 2-0 victory over Charlotte FC to inch closer to the Eastern Conference’s top seven.
Here are the best goals of week 29…
To kick off, we have Ryan Hollingshead against Real Salt Lake.
The Western Conference giants are back to their winning ways, triumphing 2-0 over RSL. It was Hollingshead that opened up the scoring for the California side, managing a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the back of the net.
LAFC is back on course to lift the 2022 Supporters’ Shield.
Alan Velasco for FC Dallas once again.
The player secured the 3-0 triumph over Minnesota United with a 56th minute strike into the bottom right corner of the goal. It was Velasco’s sixth of the season, propelling the team to third on the Western Conference table.
Lorenzo Insigne netted his fifth MLS goal since joining Toronto FC over the summer. The player doubled the score in just the seventh minute, sending his right-footed shot from the center of the goal to the back of the net.
Despite his best efforts, the team lost to CF Montreal to remain in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference table. With four regular-season games remaining, it is unlikely Toronto will qualify for the playoffs.
The recent edition of Canadian Classique was no joke. CF Montreal triumphed 4-3 over Toronto FC to claim second place on the Eastern Conference table.
Despite the many goals, Mihailovic’s 21st minute banger makes second place on the list. His right-footed shot from just outside the box fournd the top left corner to send BMO Field into a shock.
Lucho Acosta is back on the list.
The FC Cincinnati captain doubled the lead against Charlotte FC to inch closer towards an Eastern Conference playoff spot. The team now sits in eight place, tied with the New England Revolution at 38 points but one game behind.
With things heating up in the East, FC Cincinnati might just make the playoffs.
