Sporting Kansas City have signed veteran trio Graham Zusi, Roger Espinoza, and Andreu Fontas to new contracts, the club announced Friday.
The three players were due to be out of contract at the end of the year, but both Zusi and Espinoza have agreed deals through 2023 with an option on an extra year. Fontas, meanwhile, has signed a new two-year contract.
Zusi and Espinoza and have played 14 and 13 seasons for SKC respectively, winning three US Open Cup titles together, while the former was part of the MLS Cup-winning team of 2013. Fontas – formerly of FC Barcelona – joined in 2018 with the trio making 736 combined appearances in the MLS regular season alone.
With the re-signing of the three players via free agency, Sporting Kansas City have increased their roster to 26 players so far for the upcoming 2023 campaign, where Peter Vermes will look to guide the club back into the MLS Cup Playoffs after a disappointing 12th-place finish in the Western Conference last season.
