Erik ten Hag has Manchester United’s busy fixture list in recent weeks will be a ‘big advantage’ for his side ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

The Red Devils recorded yet another positive result on Sunday, beating Leicester 3-0 to move to within three points of Manchester City and within five points of table-toppers Arsenal.

United will follow up the win with another crucial game against Barcelona in midweek in the Europa League, before facing off against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday

And while the hectic schedule full of high leverage games may be causing concern for some Man Utd fans, speaking to Sky Sports, Ten Hag stated that he believes it gives his side the edge over Newcastle heading into the final at Wembley Stadium.

“It’s a big advantage for us. We are used to playing big games and that will be a huge advantage for us. It’s about us to keep the momentum going,” he explained.

Ten Hag also gave an assessment of the performance on Sunday, stating that he was delighted with the second half display: “We are happy with the result, it’s a great result.

“When you played every third day you can’t always get to your same level of performance, and today the first half was really tough. First, Leicester played brilliantly, second, we were rubbish with our way of playing. We were really ill-disciplined in our principles of the game and that caused problems.

“It was only for David de Gea that we got in with a clean sheet at half-time, and we were lucky we scored a great goal

“At half-time we repaired some stuff, and then I thought the second half was brilliant. It was the way I want to see our team play, it was a pleasure. It had to do with getting into the right positions, playing simple football, playing between the lines, runs in behind and it was enjoyable to watch.”
