Euro 2024 hosts Germany will kick off their preparations for the tournament with a friendly against Peru on Saturday.

Die Mannschaft were embarrassed at the World Cup and so 18 months of low-pressure fixtures in the build-up up the Euros will go down well for Hansi Flick’s side.

Peru are enjoying some nice form since Juan Reynoso arrived in the dugout but this is a step up from any of their recent fixtures.

Here’s all you need to know about this one.

Germany team news

Flick is making some changes heading towards Euro 2024 and declined to call up any of Antonio Rudiger, Niklas Sule, Thomas Muller, Ilkay Gundogan or Marco Reus, while long-time goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is still out injured.

Germany have since lost Jamal Musiala and Armel Bella-Kotchap to injury.

Potential debutants: Marius Wolf, Mergim Berisha, Felix Nmecha, Josha Vagnoman, Kevin Schade, Malick Thiaw.

(4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen; Wolf, Ginter, Schlotterbeck, Raum; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Havertz, Werner; Fullkrug.

Peru team news

Christian Cueva and Christian Ramos are the only notable absentees from the squad

Potential debutants: N/A.

(4-3-3): Gallese; Advincula, Zambrano, Abram, Trauco; Yotun, Tapia, Aquino; Carrillo, Lapadula, Flores.

This shouldn’t prove to be much of a problem for Germany.

Flick will be more interested in the performances of his younger players, most of whom will likely come off the bench, but he’ll be well aware that a win is what is needed to start rebuilding morale after the World Cup exit.

The inevitable wave of substitutes may ruin Germany’s tempo late on, but Die Mannschaft will likely be cruising by that point anyway.

Prediction: Germany 3-0 Peru
