Ansu Fati has met with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez to explain that he does not agree with his father’s recent outburst over his lack of game time at Camp Nou.
The talented 20-year-old has seen regular playing time extremely hard to come by under Xavi during the 2022/23 campaign. To date, Fati has started just 11 games in all competitions – including nine in La Liga – with his coach preferring an attacking trident of Pedri, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha to any that includes Fati.
Earlier this week Fati’s father Bori Fati gave an interview on Spanish radio station Cadena Cope questioning the situation his son finds himself in at Camp Nou.
“Good question, ask him. I don’t have an answer for that either and he as a coach will have his reasons. Maybe he thinks he lacks things like defending and I understand that.

“I called Mateu [Almemany, Barca’s director of football]. I think we deserve much more. When you are at Barça you know where you are and that there are many internationals. But we are talking about Barcelona’s [number] ten.”
“If this continues like this I’m going to Seville, that’s it. I didn’t go to the game against Madrid, why not. Right now I’m not going to the stadium anymore. I have my box and I’m not going anymore.”
Since that outburst, Ansu, according to Portera de Nunez, has sought to reconcile with the club by telling Xavi that he does not agree with what his father said.
Barcelona are back in action on April 1st when they face off against Elche in La Liga. La Blaugrana are currently 12 points clear of Real Madrid atop of the league table thanks to a recent 2-1 El Clasico win over their arch rivals – a game which Fati came off the bench in.
