A 2022 MLS Cup final re-match is on the cards as LAFC faces off against the Philadelphia Union in the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals.

Though Philadelphia may have gotten a rough start to their 2023 MLS season, the Union will look to avenge their MLS Cup loss with a win against LAFC. Led by Julian Caranza, Daniel Gazdag, and a backline that boasts the 2022 MLS Cup defender of the year Jakob Glesnes, Jim Curtin’s side will hope to salvage their year with a good start to the first leg of the semi-final.

Likewise, LAFC will want to add to their trophy cabinet and return to the Champions League final, after narrowly fell 2-1 to Tigres in 2020. With forward Denis Bouanga looking unstoppable and captain Carlos Vela finally getting into form, the Black and Gold are favorites to win this tie.

The CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals will be played over two legs, with each team playing home and away. The second leg will be played a week after the first.

The semi-finals begin on Tuesday, April 25th, in an all-Mexican matchup between Tigres and Leon. LAFC will then travel to Chester, Pennsylvania, to take on the Union at Subaru Park on Wednesday, April 26th.

The second leg of both ties will take place on May 2nd and May 3rd.
