Kylian Mbappe has issued a rallying cry after Paris Saint-Germain were beaten 1-0 at home by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Kingsley Coman scored the game’s only goal as the Bavarians ran out narrow winners at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
After a dismal first half saw PSG register a grand total of zero shots on target, Mbappe – only just returning from a thigh injury – was brought off the bench in the second half and sparked life into the hosts.
He twice had goals disallowed for offside, while Bayern were reduced to ten men late on when Benjamin Pavard was sent off for a clumsy tackle while already on a booking.
Speaking to RMC post-match, Mbappe insisted that his ill-health leading up to the tie ‘disadvantaged’ PSG, but that they will cause Bayern problems at the Allianz Arena if they are fully fit.
“We have to look at the end of the game, we were disadvantaged but we managed to cause them issues,” he said.
“We’re going over there [to Munich] to qualify. We worked day and night. Our players have to be in good health for the return leg, everyone needs to eat and sleep well. They [Bayern] are not comfortable when we play attacking football.”
