The Continental Cup semi final draw has thrown up a London derby between West Ham and Chelsea, while the winner of Thursday’s quarter final between Arsenal and Aston Villa will host Manchester City.

The draw took place on Thursday evening on TalkSport2.

Two-time winners Chelsea booked their place in the semi finals on Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory over London rivals Tottenham, while defending champions Manchester City were comfortable 6-0 winners over Bristol City – the only Championship side to reach the last eight.

West Ham netted a late winner to progress to the semi finals with a 1-0 victory against Liverpool, making just their second ever appearance in the last four of the competition. The Hammers last reached the semi finals in 2021, but were beaten 6-0 by eventual champions Chelsea – the side they have been drawn to face in the last four of this season’s competition.

Arsenal – the most successful side in the competition’s history, having lifted the trophy on five separate occasions – face Aston Villa – who have never reached the Continental Cup semi finals before – at Meadow Park in the last quarter final on Thursday evening.

West Ham have been drawn as the home side for their semi final, meaning it’s a trip to the Chigwell Construction Stadium for Chelsea. For Man City, it’s a visit to either Meadow Park or the Bescot Stadium.

Should Arsenal emerge victorious against Villa on Thursday, their semi final against Man City will represent a repeat of 2014, 2018 and 2019 Continental Cup finals.

The Continental Cup semi final fixtures will take place on the evenings of 8 and 9 February 2023.

The 2023 Continental Cup final takes place on Sunday 5 March at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park.
