Cristiano Ronaldo has not travelled with the Manchester United squad to London for Sunday’s game against Fulham.
The 38-year-old missed out in their midweek Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa due to illness and manager Erik ten Hag said ahead of the game that he was unsure if Ronaldo would recover in time for the weekend.
Ronaldo has turned out 16 times in all competitions for United this season, despite having previously fallen out with Ten Hag, but looks to have played his final game for the club before they break for the World Cup.
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News reports that Ronaldo wasn’t part of the travelling group, following previous reports that he had been absent from training at Carrington earlier in the day.
While he hasn’t been among the goals for United this season and was dropped after refusing to come on against Tottenham, Ronaldo’s absence does leave the Red Devils somewhat thin in attack. Antony is still a doubt for the clash and Jadon Sancho has also been struggling with fitness, although Anthony Martial made a scoring return to the XI in the midweek.
Ronaldo has been selected for Portgual’s World Cup squad and will almost certainly lead the line in their tournament opener against Nigeria on 17 November.
