Chelsea have signed Denis Zakaria on a season-long loan from Juventus.
The Blues have been looking to add another midfielder to their ranks in the final days of the transfer window, with the likes of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic often finding themselves on the treatment table.
They approached Ajax over a €50m move for Edson Alvarez, who was intent on forcing a move to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea could not reach an agreement with the Dutch champions.
Zakaria came to their attention and swiftly moved to agree a loan with Juventus having only completed a move to Turin back in January.
Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey,Toby Cudworth and Harry Symeou bring you a live deadline day edition of Talking Transfers. The team welcome Daniel Childs and Julien Laurens to the show to discuss Chelsea’s late window activity, Arsenal’s pursuit of Douglas Luiz, Paris Saint-Germain’s summer signings & much more! The move was completed just after the window shut on transfer deadline day. Chelsea retain an option to make the move permanent next summer.
The Switzerland international is now set to play in the Premier League after being linked with a move to England for years while at Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 25-year-old has been capped 40 times by his country and has played a starring role for them at their last three major tournaments.
