Monday night football pits two of the Premier League’s crisis clubs against each other as Everton host Tottenham.

Supporters on both sides have been through the ringer of late. Relegation and a points deduction remain very real possibilities for the Toffees this season, while Spurs begin the post-Antonio Conte era days after the Fabio Paratici debacle.

Both could really do with a win just to raise spirits, let alone keep fighting for their respective goals this season.

Everton team news

Former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend is facing a race against time to play again this season due to an ACL injury and will not play against his boyhood team on Monday.

Sean Dyche’s other fitness concern is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is battling a muscle injury.

Everton predicted lineup (4-3-3): Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Tarkowski, Godfrey; Gueye, Doucoure, Onana; Iwobi, Gray, McNeil

Tottenham team news

Interim manager Cristian Stellini has several injuries to contend with among his ranks.

Though Conte’s former assistant has insisted he will not necessarily stick to the tactics of his good friend which led to his departure, he may have no other choice but to continue with the maligned 3-4-3 system.

Tottenham head to Merseyside without Ben Davies, Emerson Royal, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Yves Bissouma and ex-Everton favourite Richarlison.

However, Spurs have been handed a boost after Hugo Lloris returned to training over the international break.

Tottenham predicted lineup (3-4-3): Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Porro, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son

Dyche has managed to turn Everton’s home fortunes around of late and they once again look a tough nut to crack at Goodison Park.

That said, they are right up against it in the fight to beat the drop and every team at the bottom will find a way to drop points between now and the end of the season.

Though Spurs have been in off-field turmoil over the last few days, the temporary appointment of Stellini – who masterminded wins against Manchester City and Chelsea when Conte was absent in February – could be exactly the calm decision they need.

Prediction: Everton 0-2 Tottenham
