Jordan Nobbs has been named the WSL’s player of the month for February, while Gareth Taylor has won the manager of the month award.
Aston Villa took four points from home and away clashes against Brighton in February, with Nobbs starting both matches and netting a hat-trick during her side’s 6-2 victory at the Broadfield Stadium.
The goals were the midfielder’s first in a Villa shirt, having called time on her 12-year stay at Arsenal to join Carla Ward’s side in January. Nobbs’ form also saw her earn a call-up to the England squad for the Arnold Clark Cup.
Villa currently sit fifth in the WSL, and are on for their best ever top-flight finish.
Nobbs was nominated for the award alongside Manchester United defender Hannah Blundell, Tottenham striker B*thany England, Aston Villa winger Kirsty Hanson, Manchester City winger Chloe Kelly and Leicester goalkeeper Janina Leitzig.
Manchester City boss Taylor claimed the manager of the month award after guiding his side to maximum points from their two WSL fixtures in February. City were 2-0 winners over bottom club Leicester and secured a vital 2-1 victory over Champions League rivals Arsenal – a performance which Taylor described as ‘gutsy’.
The win over the Gunners saw City leapfrog their opponents into third, meaning they currently occupy the WSL’s final European place.
Taylor was nominated for the award alongside Aston Villa boss Carla Ward and Manchester United manager Marc Skinner.
