The draw for the 2022/23 FA Cup semi finals has been made, with Brighton set to host one of Manchester United or Fulham.

The Seagulls breezed past Grimsby on Sunday with a 5-0 win and will take on the victors of Sunday’s clash between Man Utd and Fulham at Old Trafford.

Sheffield United came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers in an all-Championship clash on Sunday. Their reward is a tie with Manchester City, who smashed Vincent Kompany’s Burnley 6-0 on Saturday.

Sheffield United are four-time FA Cup winners though the last of those came in 1925. They last reached a final in 1936, when they were defeated 1-0 by Arsenal.

It’s arguably Brighton’s best ever chance to win the trophy. They came close in 1983, losing a final replay 4-0 after the immortal “…and Smith must score” words were uttered in the first game as Gary Bailey saved from Gordon Smith with the score locked at 2-2.

Man City are the favourites on paper and will be confident of securing two wins at Wembley to win the tournament, while Man Utd first have to see off Fulham in the quarter finals before they can think of adding the FA Cup to their Carabao Cup.

The FA Cup semi finals this season will take place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April. Broadcasting details Brighton vs Manchester United/Fulham and Manchester City vs Sheffield United will be confirmed soon.
