Manchester United have released an official statement in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan on Sunday.
Ronaldo heavily criticised the club for the lack of progress they’ve made since his first spell at Old Trafford, while also he insisted he doesn’t respect manager Erik ten Hag and hit back at former teammate Wayne Rooney.
90min reported on Monday that United are furious with how the 37-year-old has behaved and that the Glazer family want the matter resolved by CEO Richard Arnold as soon as possible.
And the club have now released a statement on the matter, stating: “Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.
“The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.
“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
United beat Fulham 2-1 hours prior to the release of Ronaldo’s interview, with teenager Alejandro Garnacho coming off the bench to score the winner deep into added time.
Ronaldo was absent from the matchday squad through illness. He is set to join up with the Portugal squad as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup.
