Martin Dubravka has thanked Manchester United for an ‘enjoyable’ loan spell and called Newcastle his ‘home’ following his return to the Magpies.
The goalkeeper was David de Gea’s deputy throughout the first half of the 2022/23 season but failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the club – instead making just two appearances in the Carabco Cup.
Following a few months on loan at Man Utd, Dubravka has now seen his season-long loan at Old Trafford cut short by his parent club.
In an Instagram post Dubravka commented on his time at Man Utd and his future at Newcastle:
“Hi guys, I have been recalled from loan at Manchester United and will return to Newcastle.
“Although short, it has been an enjoyable experience in Manchester and I wish to sincerely thank all the coaches, staff, players and fans of MUFC for their warmth and support during my loan spell.
“Regarding Newcastle, I have been delighted to see the club make such an impressive start to the season! Newcastle is my home and I will be back to support the squad and the goalkeeping group for the second half of the season.
“As always I will give my all to the team and will contribute in any way that I can to hopefully a memorable season. Wishing you all a very happy new year!”
Prior to the signing of Nick Pope, Dubravka was the Magpies first choice goalkeeper, making 130 appearances in all competitions for the club.
