Ipswich Town’s Conor Chaplin has been voted the PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans’ Player of the Month for September.

The 25-year-old has continued his fine form so far this season having already scooped the prize for August.

Chaplin scored three goals throughout September to maintain Ipswich’s fast start to the campaign.

The versatile forward kicked off the month with a match-winning brace as the Tractor Boys won 2-0 at Accrington Stanley.

He followed that display with a goal at home to Bristol Rovers, opening the scoring in another 2-0 victory.

Ipswich ended September with a 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday and 2-1 loss at Plymouth Argyle as the early race for automatic promotion was already blown wide open, but Chaplin impressed in both matches.

Chaplin wins the award with 27% of the vote, ousting off stiff competition from Wycombe Wanderers’ Anis Mehmeti who finished with 22%. The young Albanian grabbed two goals and an assist in a tough month for the Chairboys.

Barnsley’s Devante Cole came third with 16% after scoring three goals, while Exeter City’s Jevani Brown and Port Vale’s Ellis Harrison tied for fourth with 12%.

Morgan Whittaker, on loan at Plymouth from Swansea City, finished in sixth with 11%.
