In what was likely his final World Cup campaign, Suarez was substituted and watched on as Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0, but were dumped out of the World Cup as South Korea snatched a late win against Portugal elsewhere in Group H. Hwang Hee-chan’s late goal meant South Korea were level on points with Uruguay, but advanced on goal difference. Controversially, Uruguay were denied a penalty that – if scored – would’ve seen them through to the last 16, when Daniel Amartey appeared to bundle overRead More →

As has been the case with most fixtures in matchday three, the game was wide open from the off with both teams knowing they had a very real chance of advancing. Breel Embolo came close mere minutes into the game, before Serbia went down the other end and almost scoredRead More →

[ad_1] It is one of the major stories of the 2022 Qatar World Cup that Australia have made their way through to the round of 16 after coming second in a group containing France, Tunisia and Denmark. Many people assumed Australia would finish at the bottom of that group, but instead they qualified in second. At this stage, everything is a bonus for Australia and getting knocked out in the next round would not stop the tournament from being a major success. That is just as well, as they are coming up against Argentina. While they may not have been scintillating in the group stage,Read More →
