The top scorer in the 2021/22 edition of the Champions League was Karim Benzema, who netted 15 goals as Real Madrid won the tournament in Paris.

Robert Lewandowski was not far behind in second with 13 efforts, while Sebastien Haller racked up 11 as Ajax enjoyed the group stage.

Benzema and Lewandowski will be among the favourites after their glorious campaigns last time out. However, there’s a whole host of attacking talent throughout the continent.

Paris Saint-Germain trio Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar all have incredible records in the Champions League, while Erling Haaland will continue to score bucket-loads for Manchester City.

Premier League stars Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane have enjoyed plenty of UCL success in the past and will be looking to rack up more goals for Liverpool and Tottenham respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains the leading goalscorer in Champions League history with 140 strikes, but his lead could shrink this season as Manchester United are playing in the Europa League instead.

Long-time rival Lionel Messi can close the gap on first place this season, while Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are currently tied on 86 goals as the battle for third continues.
