Chelsea have agreed a British record deal worth £115m with Benfica for Enzo Fernandez, sources have confimed to 90min.

Fernandez has always been Chelsea’s number priority for January, but the deal stalled when the two clubs could not agree terms.

90min revealed last week that Benfica were expecting Chelsea to make a renewed bid, and that is what happened over the weekend.

Progress was made between the two clubs with co-owner Behdad Eghbali and transfer director Paul Winstanley moving the deal on.

Both Eghbali and Winstanley played significant roles in their move for Mykhailo Mudryk earlier this month and now they have made another huge move with their deal for Fernandez.

Benfica always insisted on Fernandez’ full release clause of £105m being met, which Chelsea were willing to do – but in instalments. Now Benfica have agreed to instalments, but only after Chelsea agreed to pay over the release clause.

Fernandez’ representatives agreed personal terms earlier in the window, so that is not an issue for the deal and now they have given themselves more than enough time to finalise the deal ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
