Chelsea have confirmed the signing of centre-back Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco on a seven-and-a-half year contract.
The Blues are looking to bolster their squad this window and had already wrapped up a deal to bring in teenage striker David Datro Fofana from Molde in the final days of December.
Speaking to the club’s official website after making the move, the defender said: “I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea. I’m so excited to start playing for this club. I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world.”
90min first reported last month that Chelsea had touted Badiashile as an alternative to Croatia World Cup star Josko Gvardiol, and the France international’s transfer is now complete.
Badiashile, who turns 22 in March, made 135 senior appearances for Monaco after breaking into their first-team setup back in 2018.
He has also been capped twice by France and was unlucky to have missed out on a place in their 2022 World Cup squad.
