England manager Gareth Southgate has made four alterations to the side that drew 0-0 with the United States at the World Cup as the Three Lions face Wales in their final Group B encounter.
Phil Foden is recalled to face England’s neighbours, while there’s also nods from the start for Kyle Walker, Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford.
Mason Mount, Kieran Trippier, Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling are the players to drop down to England’s bench, meaning there’s another start in central midfield for Jude Bellingham – who had been tipped to lose his place to Henderson in the starting lineup.
Wales have made three changes of their own, drafting in Joe Allen, Daniel James and Danny Ward from the start – Connor Roberts and Harry Wilson drop down to Rob Page’s bench, while goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is suspended.
Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey both start in a Wales side that looks to have moved away from playing three at the back in favour of a more balanced 4-2-3-1.
England need to avoid losing by four or more goals to qualify for the knockout stages, with Netherlands or Senegal waiting in the round of 16. As for Wales, they must take the game to the Three Lions from the off after drawing with the United States and losing to Iran.
