Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has stated he wishes to stay and retire at the club, confirming he has no desire to leave Camp Nou.

Alba signed for La Blaugrana in 2012 and has been an integral part of the team ever since, becoming a part of the club’s furniture and reaching a decade of service this year.

But with the club struggling tremendously in recent years, both on the pitch and financially, a rebuild has been underway to give the squad a refreshed look under the management of Xavi.

Alba remains contracted to the club until 2024 and spoke to Mundo Deportivo about his future: “As far as I am concerned, I feel qualified to continue here for many years.

“I think that when I’m playing I’m doing well and when I’m not playing I’ll support my teammates and try to help the younger ones as much as I can.”

Confirming his desire to remain in Barcelona, he added: “I want to continue performing well, I’ve been here at Barcelona for many years and my intention is to stay here.”

Amid speculation he could have moved to Inter in the summer, Alba denied that an offer came in and revealed he spoke to Xavi who explained he was counting on him.

“There has been talk for many years that I could go on loan or sign to another club. But my intention has always been to stay here.

“I am a culé, during these years I have worked hard for this club, then things will turn out for better or worse, but that will continue to be my intention until the end of the season and everything that remains on my contract.”
