Manchester United have won the Carabao Cup after being Newcastle 2-0 in an entertaining game at Wembley.
It was the first trophy of the Erik ten Hag era at Man Utd and ends their five-year wait for silverware. Newcastle, meanwhile, have still failed to win a domestic trophy since 1955.
The game was an absorbing one, with Newcastle starting brilliantly and passing through the Man Utd lines in assured style.
However, they were unable to land a blow on the Red Devils, who slowly grew into the game and took the lead through a Casemiro header.

Newcastle responded strongly, but Man Utd came thundering back to complete a one-two knockout punch. Wout Weghorst fed Marcus Rashford, and his shot was deflected into his own net by Sven Botman past a hapless Loris Karius.
From there it was all about Man Utd managing the game brilliantly and keeping Newcastle at arm’s length.
The Magpies huffed and puffed but struggled to create anything clear cut while Man Utd looked more likely to pick them off on the counter attack.
Justice was done in the result, but both clubs will be looking ahead to brighter futures under new regimes, although it was Man Utd who got their hands on the silverware.
