St. Louis CITY have acquired midfielder Aziel Jackson in a trade with Minnesota United for $150,000 in General Allocation Money. The 21-year-old will join the 2023 expansion team following a standout season for Minnesota’s MLS NEXT Pro side MNUFC2, where he was named to the league’s Best XI during its maiden season.

He was the top player in the league, managing 70 scoring chances created and led in that statistic from July 31 to the final week of the regular season. He recorded 10 in 23 games , and provided seven assists.

Jackson first arrived at Minnesota United as Homegrown Player when the team acquired his rights from New York Red Bulls in April 2021, where he played since in 2014. At age 16, he moved to France with his family to play for Toulouse FC for two seasons where he was the first American signed by the team.

He also played for Crossfire FC, when he returned to the U.S. from 2019-2020 and spent the 2021 season on loan to North Carolina FC before playing with MNUFC2 on a season-long loan in 2022.
