Versatile Ipswich Town star Conor Chaplin has been voted the PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans’ Player of the Month for August.

The 25-year-old has spent much of the season playing as a number ten and has impressed in Kieran McKenna’s side.

Having grabbed an assist in the Tractor Boys’ 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers at the back-end of July, Chaplin carried his form into August with a series of top displays.

He scored his first goal of the season in a 3-0 thrashing of Milton Keynes Dons, and doubled his tally for the term a week later in another 3-0 win, this time away at Shrewsbury Town.

Chaplin rounded off the month with one goal against former side Barnsley in a 2-2 draw at Portman Road, while he also impressed in wins against Forest Green Rovers and Burton Albion last month.

Six players were nominated for the award and Chaplin takes home the gong after accumulating 25% of the vote. Portsmouth striker Colby Bishop finished second with 17% following his summer move from Accrington Stanley, and Exeter City’s Jevani Brown came third with 16%.

Peterborough United talisman Jonson Clarke-Harris, Bristol Rovers forward Aaron Collins (both 15%) and Cambridge United striker Sam Smith (12%) were also shortlisted.
